Asus has launched the Fonepad, its 7-inch tablet that also features phone functionality, in the Indian market at a price of Rs. 15,999. The device will be available across Croma stores and select Asus authorised retail outlets starting April 30.

Asus had unveild the Fonepad at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. It is a 7-inch tablet that also offers phone functionality, including 3G connectivity for mobile data and full telephony support. The Asus Fonepad is powered by 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor. It runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and features a 1280 x 800 pixels HD resolution display with IPS technology for wide viewing angles and clarity. The tablet has 1GB of RAM, and a PowerVR SGX540 chip for processing graphics.

The Asus Fonepad packs in a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. It weighs 340 grams and is 10.4mm thick.

The device comes with 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB, with a microSD card. Fonepad users also get 5GB of free cloud storage for lifetime through Asus WebStorage for syncing and sharing data with other devices. The Fonepad has a 4270mAH battery which as per the company promises up to 9 hours of running time.

This  Fonepad is already on sale in UK and costs 179 Pounds, which translates to roughly Rs. 14,900.
